Frequently asked questions.
Please read before inquiring.
Where are you located?
We are located in Eastern WA.
Do you offer shipping?
It is best to fly in and meet us at the airport. We do not ship puppies without a nanny. NO we will not ship your puppy in cargo all by its self. You must fly in to our nearest airport or we will coordinate a nanny flight travel with you. These are all additional fees.
Do you health test parents?
Yes, all of the dogs in our program are health tested and must pass before they produce. You can be sure that we will only produce the best of the best. We consider each gene carefully and would never produce a puppy who would be at risk of a severe genetic condition.
Do you offer health guarantee?
We are happy to offer a 1 year genetic health contract.
Should we plan to get our puppy trained?
Yes! I recommend professional puppy training for any new pet owner. Or study up a lot on you tube and work daily with your little one.
Where are the puppies raised?
We raise our puppies in our home where we practice puppy culture and light ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) I don’t like to think of ours as introducing “stress” just introducing all the normal touch and preparing puppies for their forever home. Puppies have been introduced to a lot of touch and stimulation ( human interaction and a lot of love and stimulation from mama), play, baths, nail clippings, car rides and much more. We are a big family and they get a lot of love and attention. We also introduce crate training and do find this an important tool for them as they get older.
Do you sell breeding rights?
At this time we do not sell any of our puppies with breeding rights. All puppies will go to pet companion homes only. Please don
Are the puppies hypoallergenic?
Cavapoos are usually low to non shedding and can be considered “hypoallergenic” however someone with severe allergies can still have a reaction. Even though a lot of people might consider them 100% hypoallergenic, we like to say they are low to non shedding and most people do well with them. Pet allergies can be related to things other than hair shedding. Cavaliers do shed and wouldn’t be considered hypoallergenic.
Do you allow visitors?
At this time we do not allow visitors. Having puppies in our home provides an extra responsibility to keep them safe and healthy. Did you know that Parvo can live on the Bottom of your shoes, it can also live in the ground for years and years. By allowing a lot of visitors in carries the risk of also bringing in disease. Our small program is in our home not a kenneled facility. We are more than happy to FaceTime so you can see the puppies, parents and living space though. We can send updated photos and video throughout the waiting period as well. We do allow pick up at our home, but we don’t have an open do policy for visitors. Thank you for understanding that.
Do Cavaliers and Cavapoos do well with kids?
100% YES! They are both amazing and make for the very best family dogs. All puppies are raised in home with our 5 children so they are very use to children.
What is the difference between F1 and F1b?
F1 is a pure bred cavalier with a pure bred poodle. F1b is a Cavapoo with a pure bred (either poodle or cavalier). I currently do not offer F2, multi gen or F1b reverse (cavapoo to cavalier) I only offer F1 and F1b (cavapoo to poodle)
How Do I reserve a puppy?
To reserve a puppy, please fill out the contact us section so we can pair you with the perfect new family member. After you have completed that you will need to reserve your puppy.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit amount is $500.00. They are non-refundable but can be transferable for a future litter. Deposits can be paid via Zelle or Venmo. The remainder balance will be due at the pickup.
Can my puppy explore as soon as we get it?
During weeks 8-16 puppies learn so many lifelong social skills but they are not fully protected against communicable disease until they are fully vaccinated at 16 weeks. It is best to keep them safe during that time. Even when taking your new family member to the vet I recommend holding them. It is important to keep you under immunized puppy away from pet stores, high foot traffic area, dog parks, sidewalks, etc.
Will puppies be vaccinated and Dewormed before coming home?
The puppies will be de-wormed 3x - 4x before they go home and they will have their vet health check ups and first set of vaccinations before going home. They will be due for their second vaccine 12 weeks and third dose at 16 weeks.
How often should my puppy eat?
We recommend that your puppy eats 3x a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. We recommend you place the food out for 15 minutes and once they lose interest remove the bowl. Be sure to take your puppy out within the next 30 minutes. Do not feed late nights or your puppy will need to use the restroom in the middle of the night.
Do Cavapoos Bark?
All dogs have a voice. Some bark when they are excited, some when they see something new and some bark when they hear noises. Barking is part of a dog. I don’t find most cavapoos to be “yippy” or bark a lot though. Training is key with any pet and it’s essential for raising a well respectable pet.
What is my dog going to look like as an adult?
We can all agree that puppies are very cute. I ask that you look through past puppies to get an idea of what cavapoos can look like as they age. It’s important to remember that you should not purchase a dog based on how it looks as a puppy, or what your expectations are for how it will look as an adult. A lot of your dogs appearance will be based on how its coat grows, how well it’s groomed, what kind of groom, blow outs, etc. I can not determine exactly what your dog will look like as an adult only show you past puppies as puppies and adults. Most of the cavapoos that are produced here at The Cav Fam are fully furnished and will be able to have that special “teddy bear” look if groomed and cared for correctly.
I do kindly ask for pictures & updates as your little one grows up, this doesn’t need to be every week or lifetime, whatever you can do is sooo appreciated. This is a great way to watch them grow and learn about them as they reach adulthood. It also brings great joy to my heart and does help benefit my program learning about their adult personalities, sizes, etc. I really appreciate those who are willing to keep me in the loop.
