Tell all - Cavapoos edition

How adorable

Cavapoos are know for their soft wavy or curly coats. They look just like a teddy bear. Cavapoos do need regular grooming, I recommend the “teddy bear groom” It is important to hire a professional groomer who is familiar with poodles, poos and doodles. I like to keep body shorter for easier maintain, and really highlight the adorable face, leaving al little fun fur at the end of the tail for expresion. A dogs groom will really highlight their sweet features. They come in all different colors but we specialize in red cavapoos. Often they will have white markings and occasionally we will have a black or black and white Cavapoo. They have the most adorable beaded eyes and floppy ears.

Temperaments

Great companions, amazing family dogs. They are known for being friendly and a show stopper. The LOVE human interaction and prefer to have someone with them. They do great with kids and other pets and are awesome for first time pet owners. I do start temperament testing the puppies starting at 4 weeks. Which is why it’s ideal to place around the 4-6 week range. For the most part all the puppies in my program are similar as they are all raised the same. There are few occasions where I might feel a puppy would do better in a home without children, or maybe where one would do better in a home with children than without.

Health

Any breed can have genetic or breed specific health problems. We do find that mixing the two breeds helps reduce the breed specific health issues. But it doesn’t always mean that there can’t be health problems. We are proud to say that we health/ genetic test the dogs in our program, and offer a 1 year heath guarantee. It’s important to keep your dog under the care of a local vet, keep them on a healthy food diet. While I do start all my puppies off on kibble I do believe in adding in a lot of extras on top of kibble such as home cooked puploaf, multivitamins, organic pumpkin puree, blueberries, home cooked treats or healthy treats. Keeping them well groomed, ears cleaned, anal glands expressed and nails trimmed.

Active

I would consider cavapoos to have a moderate energy level. They do great on hikes, or longer walks, but also can do with zoomies in the back yard a couple times a day. They adapt easy and are a “go with the flow” kind of breed. Keep in mind they do better when they are on a schedule and are crate trained.
